Offered for your consideration is a Art Deco Bendix 526C Catalin Tube Radio made circa 1946. John Sideli in his book, "Classic Plastic Radios of the 1930's and 1940's" said about this model "An extemely stylish, successful and unusual design. Dramatic in its use of black, a color seldom encountered in Catalin radios. Conceptually unique in design and construction, the top and sides are combined in one U-shaped piece that fits down over the other major component, which forms the front and base of the radio. The two rounded corner pieces that bolt onto either side of the dial are a unique feature unlike anything found on any other radio. The five horizontal grooves that stretch across the front of the radio were cut in during the finishing process after the parts were cast. This model was made with two different dial faces: one is gold and black, and the other is turquoise blue and white. The appearance of these radios may vary greatly according to the tone of the green and the amount of yellow marbleizing that occurs. They are frequently underpriced, but are a wonderful additon to any collection."
